The rules and standards that make Teka a safe, creative, and fair space for creators and viewers worldwide.
Teka exists to give creators a fair deal — 50-60% of ad revenue, from day one, anywhere in the world. To make that work for everyone, we need a community built on creativity, respect, and authenticity.
These guidelines apply to all users — creators, viewers, and anyone who interacts with the platform. They exist not to limit expression, but to ensure that Teka is a place where real people can create freely without fear of harassment, exploitation, or harm.
Teka welcomes a wide range of content. Here are some examples of what belongs on the platform:
Comedy, entertainment, lifestyle vlogging, educational content, tutorials, cooking, fitness, music performances (with proper rights), travel, commentary, gaming, art, storytelling, news analysis, fashion, beauty, sports, and more.
Satire, parody, artistic nudity in appropriate contexts, mature themes handled responsibly, political commentary, activism, cultural content, and regional language content from any country.
Personal stories, mental health awareness content, survivor testimonies (without gratuitous detail), documentary-style journalism, and educational material on sensitive topics.
Creator communities, challenges, duets, collaborations, fan content, product reviews, brand partnerships, and sponsored content (disclosed clearly).
This also includes: sexualising minors in any way, grooming behaviour, content that facilitates access to minors for exploitation, or any attempt to bypass our age verification system.
Content is prohibited if it promotes hatred, violence, or systematic discrimination against people based on:
Satire and social commentary on these themes are permitted when they are clearly not promoting hatred. Context matters — we review content holistically.
The following are prohibited:
Sharing intimate images or videos of individuals without their explicit consent ("revenge porn") is strictly prohibited and may constitute a criminal offence under South African law (Cybercrimes Act 19 of 2020).
Satire and opinion are not misinformation — they must be clearly identifiable as such.
Do not upload content that uses copyrighted material (music, video clips, images) without a proper licence. See our Copyright Policy for detailed guidance on what audio you can use and the consequences of violations.
Creating accounts or content that misleadingly impersonates another creator, public figure, business, or organisation is prohibited. Fan accounts and parody accounts are allowed if they are clearly labelled as such.
We use a combination of automated detection and human review to enforce these guidelines. Enforcement actions depend on the severity and frequency of violations:
First-time minor violations receive a warning and educational notice.
The specific video or content is removed. Monetisation on that content is voided.
Posting, monetisation, or other features may be suspended for a defined period.
Account permanently terminated. Applied immediately for severe violations (CSAM, etc.).
Severe violations (CSAM, credible threats of violence, non-consensual intimate content) bypass the warning system and result in immediate permanent account termination and, where required, reports to law enforcement.
If you believe a content moderation decision was made in error, you may appeal within 30 days of the decision:
Appeals are not available for: CSAM violations, credible threats of violence, or accounts terminated for fraud. All appeal decisions are final.
If you see content that violates these guidelines, please report it:
In-app reporting: Tap the "..." menu on any video or profile and select "Report". Choose the most relevant category and provide a brief description.
Email reports: For urgent matters or if in-app reporting is unavailable, email support@teka-mh.co.za with a link to the content and details of the violation.
CSAM reporting: In addition to reporting to Teka, you may also report child sexual abuse material directly to the NCMEC CyberTipline at cybertipline.org or SAPS (10111).
We investigate all reports. Filing a false or malicious report may itself be a violation of these guidelines.
As a creator on Teka, you are responsible for:
We update these Community Guidelines as the platform evolves and as new types of harmful content emerge. When we make material changes, we will notify you via in-app notification. Continued use of Teka after updated guidelines are posted constitutes acceptance of the changes.
